Since it largely survived the earthquake of 1755, the area still retains much of its original layout. Adjacent to the Alfama are the likewise old quarters of Castelo and Mouraria, on the western and northern slopes of the hill that is crowned by St. George's Castle. Every year in June, the streets of all three quarters come alive with the feasts in honour of the popular saints. The Graça quarter and the churches of São Vicente de Fora and Santa Engrácia are within walking distance of this area. Radiant skies brighten the monumental city, with its typical tile covered building facades and narrow Medieval streets, where one can hear the fado being played and sung at night. Both apartments have central heating, air conditioning, DVD, and separate connections for internet and satellite TV. There is also a fully equipped kitchen with stove, oven, dishwasher and fridge. Washing/dryers machines are available in each apartment. All apartments are equipped with security alarm. The building has elevator and limited paid parking which can be reserved in advance .
 

Alfama I is a two bedrooms apartment with twin bed and both leading to the terrace outside. One of these 2 bedrooms has an ensuite bathroom with bathtub. There is a second complete bathroom in the corridor adjacent the other bedroom. Both beds in each room can be easily united as a double bed (200cm x 200cm wide). The main salon is divided into sitting area and dining area. The dining area looks out onto the front street through a large window from where you can see the most famous tramway in Lisbon nº 28 passing under the balcony. It looks like an unreal situation and an amazing surprise! As a second wonderful surprise you can enjoy at the back of the house a huge terracota tiled terrace with a table and chairs, very quiet and comfortable to have a drink or pleasant meals during Spring and Summer seasons.

The spacious kitchen has stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave and dishwasher. There is also a clothes washer in the apartment. At guests disposal the apartment is equipped with high speed internet access available 24 hours / day at no charge, DVD, and cable TV. There is air conditioning and heating in each room.
